The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little reward to find more ways of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one service is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
